WELCOME NEW MEMBERS! - INFO ON GETTING STARTED:

Welcome to The Small Business Network of Orlando!  This "Notes" section will be the area you will go to for help in understanding this website. To view all the helpful "Notes" you can click on the "All Notes" hyperlink above and you will be able to select other Notes to read after reading our "Getting Started" Note.

The first thing that you will want to do to type your name and the name of your business on your profile. Please type your name and business name, example: Debra Miller - The Small Business Matchmaker.  Then you will need to answer the questions on your profile page and upload a photo or logo. It is important that the photo or logo that you choose to use is a SQUARE and not a rectangle.  It should be 175 X 175 pixels in size in order to be centered in the space reserved for your photo or logo.  If the logo or photo that you have is a rectangle you may send the photo or logo to me in an email and I will resize it for you and send it back to you so that you can upload it to your page.  Email me at: smallbizorlando@yahoo.com

You may change the color and layout of your individual page or you may use the default colors that are already there for you.

You may add photos to your page and display them as a slide show or as individual photos.

You may add music to your page and add videos as well. This is a great way for bands and musicians to show a sample of their music and style of entertainment.

I highly recommend that you create a BLOG so that you may brag about what you know or the services that you are offering.  This is a wonderful way for people to get to know you and for your future customers to know what makes you different from the competition.

Be sure to join one of the GROUPS.  The groups are set up by categories and eventually as these groups grow in membership they will also start meeting in person in order to have Marketing Brain-Storming Sessions. These groups are designed in such a way as to have the same type of customer base which makes it a wonderful way to get referrals and leads.

The FORUM section is a way to have online discussions on specific topics.  You may make a comment on an existing topic or you may create a new topic and start your own "thread".

The INVITE feature allows you to send an email invitation to other business owners that you know. When they get the invitation it will show your profile page. When you send an invitation to join make sure that you tell them that it is FREE to join.

You will also want to make FRIENDS with everyone on the site, you will do that by asking the person to become your friend.  You will find that feature underneath their profile picture.

Once someone is your FRIEND you may give them a recommendation and refer them to someone that you know by clicking on the SHARE feature that is below their photo/logo.  The SHARE feature will send an email coming from you and it will show your photo and a link to the other person's page so that the person receiving the email can read the person's profile page.  It is a wonderful feature to use for networking and introducing someone's business to a friend, family member or other business owner.
